Who this is for

Authors who want emails to come from their personal Gmail address for higher trust and better open rates.

Overview

Sends cadence emails from the author’s connected Gmail account instead of the platform default sender.

How it works

Connect flow

  1. Open cadence workspace settings → Gmail Sending tab
  2. Click Connect Gmail
  3. Standard Google OAuth flow grants access with these scopes:
    • Read user email and profile
    • Send email on behalf of the user
  4. Connection confirmed on return; status visible in the settings tab

Per-cadence opt-in

  • Each cadence has a “Send via Gmail” toggle
  • Requires the cadence owner (the author who created it) to have a connected Gmail account

Send behavior

  • Emails sent via Gmail API with the From address = the connected Google account email
  • Workspace name used as the display name
  • Automatic fallback to platform sending if Gmail is unavailable, the token expired, or the API call fails
Disconnect any time from the same settings tab; the connection is immediately removed from the author’s active integrations list.

What this does NOT do today

  • No author DKIM/SPF setup for sending from a custom domain
  • No quota tracking against Gmail’s daily limits
  • No send-as alias picker (always sends from the connected account address)
