# Getting Started with Shop & Payouts

> Overview of direct sales on CabinsPress — products, checkout, fulfillment, and author payouts.

CabinsPress is your merchant of record for direct sales: you list products, readers buy on your Author Site, and CabinsPress handles sales tax, checkout, and payout reporting. This section covers setup through fulfillment.

## Step 1 — Understand how selling works

CabinsPress collects payment as merchant of record, remits sales tax where required, and pays you out via Stripe Connect after you connect a payout method.

## Step 2 — Connect payouts and open the shop

Connect Stripe before enabling ecommerce on your website. Then use the shop dashboard to see orders and revenue at a glance.

## Step 3 — List products

Create book-linked products (paperback, hardcover, ebook, audiobook) or merch. Set variants, pricing, inventory, and preorder dates.

## Step 4 — Fulfill orders
